Sogrape honored with the award for sustainability
Casa Ferreirinha and Sandeman, two of the most prestigious landmarks of the portfolio of Sogrape, just be distinguished in the US with the "2016 International Award of Excellence in Sustainable winegrowing", an award from Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT).
The award aims to commend the wine producers more committed to ensuring the development of their business through the adoption of sustainable best practices in environmental, economic and social areas.
BRIT awarded the Casa Ferreirinha and Sandeman the Gold Medal, which attests to the commitment of these insignia Sogrape to support their activities through innovative practices that minimize negative impacts practices in the atmosphere, in water and in areas where they operate the its vineyards, and important aspects like social responsibility in business. It should be noted that the jury also took into account the quality of the wines produced.
The jury appreciated aspects as diverse as the full participation of Casa Ferreirinha and Sandeman on projects such as PORVID, an association that seeks to protect and recover native varieties in danger of extinction, thus advocating a natural genetic heritage, unique and ancient, or as the program European communication "Wine in Moderation", calling for a moderate and responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages.
