Museum of “Vinho Verde” opens in Ponte de Lima
On 4th March, the Prime Minister António Costa was in Ponte de Lima for the opening Museum of “Vinho Verde”. The space is a partnership between Comissão de Viticultura da Região dos Vinhos Verdes (CVRVV) and the Municipality (City Council) of Ponte de Lima.
The CVRVV and Ponte de Lima Municipality inaugurated the Museum of “Vinho Verde” in Ponte de Lima, which the Portuguese Prime Minister marked presence.
The museum is a joint application between the two entities under the program called ON - MINHO II. With the motto the culture of vine and wine and regional heritage, space is the diversity and identity of the nine sub-regions that make up the demarcated region of Vinho Verde.
Located in an emblematic building in the center of Ponte de Lima History, the project is intended to promote the Wine Route of “Vinho Verde” and acceding respective, strengthening the position of the Minho region as a reference destination in wine tourism at national and international level.
The president of CVRVV, Manuel Pinheiro, said: "the creation of the Museum of “Vinho Verde” is the consecration of Ponte de Lima in the role of driving force in the region. At the same time, this location is an asset for the legacy of great traditions related to viticulture, culture and tourist attracting work that has been developed in recent years. The CVRVV sees this project as an opportunity to develop more training activities within the “Vinho Verde Academy”, along with an investment in museographic research, assuming as a strategic tool in promoting “Vinho Verde".
