The Portuguese wine Campolargo Branco 2011 won the prize of the “best white wine in the world” at the World International Contest Wine Challenge at a ceremony in London. During 31 years of the existence of the contest, this is the first time that the white non-fortified Portuguese wine gains a “Champion Trophy”, says the press of the company Campolargo situated in Anadia, Portugal. In the tasting note of the Campolargo, produced in Bairrada by Manuel dos Santos Campolargo, and also considered the best white wine of the region and of Portugal, the jury characterize this wine (made of the grape Cercial) as being “seductive for nose”, “complex and serious” or “fleshy, full, round and creamy”. “We do this wine like my grandfather did”, says Carlos Campolargo, the responsible for the winery and the sales of the family firm, that export about 40% of what is produced.
