Casa Américo awarded at "Dão Primores" - Best Wines of Dão 2018
On May 20, the Dão Regional Wine Commission (Dão CVR) held the Dão Primores event for the ninth consecutive year, which was part of the award ceremony of the LVII Competition "The Best Wines of Dão no Produtor - Dão Primores"- harvest 2018. One of the notable winners was Seacampo, Sociedade Agrícola, Lda, which received two "Gold" degrees in categories III Rosado and IV Encruzado Branco.
Casa Américo, one of the most recognized brands of Seacampo, was established by the hands of Américo Seabra, father, who had a dream of producing wine in the land where he was born, Vila Nova de Tazém. The project was followed up by the hands of its children who recovered the property of the XVIII century and built a new wine cellar. Casa Américo currently has 100 hectares of vineyards, the oldest being over 100 years old, planted with the noble grape varieties of the Dão region, located in poor granite terrain between 500 and 600 meters in altitude. The sub-region where they are located, Serra da Estrela, is one of the most important terroirs of Dão where noble wines are produced with a unique freshness and elegance.
