5ª Edition of the Contest “O Melhor Sommelier Vinhos do Alentejo no Brasil”
The contest and its great tastings gather for the first time in Brazil, held by “Comissão Vitivinícola Regional Alentejana” (CVRA), exclusively for wine professionals working at restaurants, stores, emporiums and importing companies.
Recent crops from Alentejo as well as the most distinguished brands were presented by more than 20 wine producers: Adega de Borba, Adega de Redondo, Cartuxa- Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Companhia das Quintas - Herdade da Farizoa, Cortes de Cima, Dona Maria- Júlio Bastos, Encostas de Alqueva, Esporão, Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, Herdade do Mouchão, Herdade do Rocim, Herdade Grande Wines, Herdade São Miguel, Casa Agrícola HMR, J. Portugal Ramos Vinhos, Lusovini Vinhos de Portugal, Medeiros, Monte da Capela, Monte do Pintor, Monte dos Cabaços, Monte Novo and Figueirinha, Sogrape - Herdade do Peso, Susana Esteban, Tapada do Fidalgo and Tiago Cabaço Winery.
Verallia Portugal wishes great success to all the producers that have took part in the 5ª Edição of the competition “O Melhor Sommelier Vinhos do Alentejo no Brasil”.
This year, wine critic Alexandre Lalas has conducted a training session where he explained the essentials of the region of Alentejo, as well as its history, terroir, producers and wine profile. The chosen themes for this year were: “Antão Vaz e Arinto: Uma Dupla de Respeito”, “Elegância à Alentejana”, “Imigrantes Bem-Vindas” e “A Importância de Aragonez”.
Participants would also have access to a tasting event, which ended in a classification challenge. The participant who had more knowledge about the wines would be crowned as “The Best Sommelier” of the contest, as well as enjoying a tour and an exclusive tasting through Portuguese lands, which is an offer from “Comissão Vitivinícola Regional Alentejana”.
“O Melhor Sommelier Vinhos do Alentejo no Brasil”, has conducted sessions in Brasília (12th of September), Rio de Janeiro (15th of September), Cutiriba (18th of September) and São Paulo (22nd of September).
